Fancy a change in your career for one in the transport industry? LGV'S play a crucial part in our everyday lives. They're needed the length and breadth of the world just about. Gone are the days when you would load a Dray Cart and transport small amounts from A to B, or use the canal networks to transport larger amounts over a longer distance. Industry today transports just about everything on our road network systems on all sorts of Large Vehicles. This is the sequence of events that will lead up to your LGV Practical Test.

You will require...

1 - An LGV Medical Examination

2 - An LGV Theory Test

3 - An LGV Driving Assessment

4- An ALERT Training Course

Please note: If you already hold a class C licence then you will only require steps 3, 4 and 5.

If you require application forms for your provisional licence, you can call the D.S.A on 0870 240 0009 or pop into the office and we will gladly provide them.

You will need an LGV Medical if you want to gain your Class C Licence. You could arrange one through your own Doctor, or Call the Cotswold Medical group on 01454 317 436, the cost is £41.70 plus V.A.T, or we could arrange one on your behalf.

You can, once you've received your provisional entitlement back, book a theory test in your local area. To do this you need to call the D.S.A. on 0300 200 1122. The cost is £50.00 for the hazard perception test and multi choice test and you will need to have your credit card details to hand. Or give ALERT a call and we can arrange one for you at no extra cost. We also run Pre-Theory training courses for those that are interested, and these are proving to be very successful.

Then, once you have passed the Theory Test, you'll be ready for your Training Course. An initial assessment of approx 1 hour will give an insight as to how many days you will require. The training is done on 4 hour blocks solo or 8 hours if doubled up. Refresher courses are also available.

*As of Sept 09 any trainee that dosen't have aquired rights pre 1997 is now required by law to take an initial CPC. Module 2 (Case studies) and Module 4 (Practicle demonstration test). You must pass module 2 before taking your practicle test. If you already held the lgv licence prior 1997 you are required by law to sit 35 hours of periodic training by Sept 9th 2014 to drive vehicles for pay and reward. Once you have completed this you will be issued with a DQC card valid until Sept 09 2019 and it must be carried with you at all times.* We can supply the initial CPC training aswell as the 35 hrs periodic training that counts for your DQC card in conjucttion with Tonys Training who is a fully Acredited RTITB Provider.
