Training courses to qualify for a Vocational Training Certificate ( The ADR ) are presented in-house in a modern business centre venue at our HQ. Alternatively, courses are available at company premises, subject to the facilities meeting SQA criteria.
The exams taken on the course are set and marked by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. ( SQA )
Companies who transport Dangerous Goods over certain thresholds must ensure their drivers hold a Vocational Training Certificate ( The ADR ) Previously known as the Hazchem Certificate.
There are 9 classes of ADR dangerous goods and they are:
Class 1-Explosives (Specialist, see below)
Class 2-Gases
Class 3-Flammable Liquids
Class 4-Flammable Solids
Class 5- Oxidising Agents
Class 6- Toxics and infectious
Class 7-Radioactives (Not a common class)
Class 8-Corrosives
Class 9-Miscellaneous
In the standard course there are eight modules that may be taken.
Core (Mandatory)
Packages and/or Tankers. (Mandatory)
Class 2 - 6, 8 + 9.
There are two other class modules which are specialist and do not form part of the basic course.These are Class 1 Explosives and Class 7 Radioactive and are individually available by arrangement.
There are no grandfather rights, the ADR Certificate expires after 5 years, a resit must be taken no earlier than twelve months before, but no later than four weeks from expiry date.
Refreshers are also available by request.
Courses are available as follows:
Initial;
Option 1. Core, Packages and All classes 3.4 days Monday to Thursday.
Option 2. Core, Tanks and All classes 4.6 days Monday to Friday.
Option 3. The Tanker module is stand alone and can be taken immediately after option 1 has been completed. Option 1 will then take 4.7 days.
You cannot sit a Tanker module with out having first taken Core and at least one class specific.
Classes are held in the last full week of the month, commencing Monday morning. (Subject to availability and minimum numbers)
